Cass County Crash Alert: 71-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Train in Grandin
CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA — A 71-year-old Grandin woman was killed Friday afternoon after being struck by a northbound Canadian National train while walking near a railroad crossing in Cass County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred around 2:07 p.m. on October 24 at the 3rd Street Railroad Crossing in Grandin. Officials say the woman was walking west across the tracks when the train hit her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities Confirm Investigation Ongoing
Investigators reported that weather and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Grandin Fire Department, Gardner Fire, Sanford Ambulance, Hunter Ambulance, Grandin Quick Response Unit, and BNSF Police.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol confirmed the victim was a Grandin resident, but her name is being withheld pending notification of her family.
“The incident remains under investigation,” authorities stated Friday evening, adding that additional details will be released once the case is fully reviewed.
