Friday Night Storms May Bring Wind and Hail to Kansas City Area
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI — After a few sunny days, Kansas City will see storms return Friday evening, with strong winds and small hail possible across the metro area.
Storms Expected Friday Evening
The First Alert Weather Team has marked Friday as an Impact Day because of the chance for storms that could turn strong.
“Thunderstorms will likely begin to develop between 4 and 6 p.m. around the metro,” said meteorologist Bryan Busby. “Between 7 and 11 p.m. will be the main window for those storms to potentially become severe.”
Storms could bring gusty winds near 40 mph, brief heavy rain, and small hail in some areas. Drivers should be careful during the Friday evening commute, and outdoor events may be affected.
Warm Friday, Cooler Weekend
Friday will stay warm before the storms, with temperatures reaching the low to mid-80s.
After the front moves through, Saturday and Sunday will be much cooler with calmer weather.
- Saturday: Morning rain ending, then sunny with highs in the mid-70s.
- Sunday: Clear and cooler, starting in the 40s and warming to the mid-60s.
Fall Weather Returns Next Week
Next week will feel like true fall weather — sunny afternoons, chilly mornings, and mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s. It will be a great time for football games, fall festivals, and outdoor plans around Kansas City.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, watch for weather alerts, and plan ahead for possible delays Friday evening. After the storms pass, a beautiful fall weekend is on the way.
