Lake Worth Dog Park Attack: Police Searching for Pit Bull and Owner After Woman Mauled
LAKE WORTH, TEXAS — What began as a calm evening at a neighborhood park turned into a frightening scene when a woman was viciously attacked by a pit bull at the Dakota Dog Park on Wednesday night. Police say the suspect and her dog fled the area and are now asking for the public’s help.
According to the Lake Worth Police Department, the 47-year-old victim was bitten multiple times — on both arms, her leg, and her side — leaving her bleeding and seriously injured. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Police Say Suspect Fled Moments After the Attack
Investigators say officers spoke briefly with the woman walking the pit bull moments before the attack, unaware of the danger until screams were heard from across the park. By the time officers reached the scene, the victim was down and the suspect had vanished with her dog.
Police body camera footage reportedly captured both the woman and her brown pit bull before the attack. Officials are reviewing that video to identify her.
“This was a brutal, unprovoked attack,” Lake Worth Police said in a statement. “We’re urging anyone with information to come forward before someone else gets hurt.”
Community Asked to Help Identify Woman and Dog
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or her dog to contact investigators immediately.

Police emphasized that tips can remain anonymous, and the public’s help is critical in preventing another possible incident.
Residents Urged to Remain Cautious
This incident has prompted renewed calls for stronger dog control measures and increased supervision at public parks in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Locals say they’re shaken after hearing of the attack.
“I take my kids and dog to that park all the time,” one Lake Worth resident said. “It’s terrifying to think something like this could happen so suddenly.”
As of Thursday morning, the victim remains hospitalized, and the woman and her pit bull have not been located. Police say they are continuing to review footage and leads from nearby residents and businesses.
