Kansas City Resident Captures Teen Breaking Into Car Twice on Home Security Camera
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI — A Kansas City homeowner says he captured a teenager breaking into his car twice in two nights, and the encounter, caught on home security video, has now gone viral as he calls for the teen’s parents to step forward.
According to a report shared by KC Reel TV, the first break-in occurred around 2:30 a.m., when the suspect allegedly rummaged through the vehicle and stole only an iPhone charger. The homeowner decided to stay vigilant the following night — and what he saw confirmed his suspicions.
Second Night Brings a Shocking Repeat
At approximately 3:00 a.m., movement on the homeowner’s security camera caught his attention — a figure creeping near the driver’s side door. When he went outside, he said he found the same teenager inside his car again, rifling through belongings and attempting to steal it.
The homeowner confronted the suspect, who allegedly began pleading for mercy, claiming his mother was sick and that he needed the car to help her. The teen reportedly offered the man $20, saying it was all he had.
“I had him sit on my porch while I talked to him about his choices,” the homeowner said, “and how dangerous this situation could’ve been — especially since I’m a gun violence survivor.”
Teen Gave False Identity, Police Not Yet Contacted
The homeowner says the teen provided a fake name and falsely claimed to attend a local school that later confirmed he wasn’t enrolled there. The boy refused to name his mother but said his father’s name was either Marcus or Marquan Williams.
He begged the homeowner not to call police or post the video, but the footage was later shared publicly for awareness and community safety.
“I’m sharing this for accountability,” the homeowner wrote, “because I haven’t been able to reach any of his parents or guardians. Someone needs to step in before this turns into something worse.”
Community Urged to Help Identify Teen
The incident, timestamped October 15 at 3:36 a.m., shows the suspect moving near parked vehicles before entering the homeowner’s car. Residents in the area are being urged to check their cameras and contact local authorities if they recognize the individual.
No charges have been filed at this time, and police have not released additional details about the case.
