Philadelphia Man Charged with Kidnapping as Search for Missing 23-Year-Old Woman Intensifies
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — Police in Philadelphia have charged a 21-year-old man with kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of 23-year-old Kada Scott, who vanished nearly two weeks ago after leaving her workplace.
Authorities identified the suspect as Keon King, who is now facing charges of kidnapping and recklessly endangering another person. Investigators say the search for Scott remains ongoing as new evidence is recovered.
Vehicle Linked to Suspect Found in East Falls
On Wednesday afternoon, detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department discovered a metallic gold 1999 Toyota Camry connected to the case in the parking lot of an East Falls apartment complex. Police say the car belongs to King.
The discovery came just hours after officers made a public appeal for tips in the case. Investigators have not disclosed what evidence was found inside the vehicle.
Search Expands to Abandoned School
Earlier that same day, police deployed drones, K-9 units, and crime scene teams to search an abandoned elementary school in Germantown. Sources told WPVI that officers recovered Scott’s debit card and phone case at the location.
Scott was last seen on October 4 after finishing her overnight shift at an assisted living facility in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood. Her car was left at her workplace, and her phone has been turned off since the night she disappeared.
Police: Suspect Was Last Person in Contact
Investigators believe King was the last person to have contact with Scott before she went missing. Authorities are still working to determine how the two knew each other but say they had recently come into contact in the days leading up to her disappearance.
According to family members, Scott had previously mentioned being harassed by someone, though it remains unclear whether that person was King.
Suspect Has Prior Kidnapping History
Police also confirmed that this is not King’s first kidnapping case. He was charged earlier this year in connection with the kidnapping and assault of another woman in January 2025. The case was later dismissed after the victim failed to appear in court, but authorities say they now plan to refile those charges.
Search for Kada Scott Continues
As the investigation intensifies, police are urging anyone with information about Scott’s whereabouts to come forward. The Philadelphia Police Department is coordinating with local and state agencies to follow up on all leads.
Community members have gathered for vigils and search efforts in recent days, calling for Scott’s safe return.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit or submit anonymous tips via 215-686-TIPS (8477).
