Flash Flood Warning Issued for Harris Chambers and Liberty Counties Texas as Heavy Storms Soak Mont Belvieu and Anahuac Through 9 45 AM

LIBERTY COUNTY, TEXAS — A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Harris, Chambers, and Liberty counties until 9:45 a.m. Sunday as heavy rain bands move across southeast Texas. Radar shows intense storm cells producing heavy to extreme rainfall rates over Mont Belvieu, Anahuac, Liberty, and Baytown.

The warning area stretches from the Crosby and Channelview communities east through Winnie and Stowell. Officials are urging residents to avoid driving across flooded roadways as conditions remain dangerous through the morning.

Heaviest Rainfall Centers on Mont Belvieu and Anahuac

Radar imagery shows the most intense rainfall, shaded in red and orange on the moderate to heavy scale, concentrated directly over Mont Belvieu and extending south toward Anahuac. This core of heavy rain is moving slowly across the area, raising the risk of rapid flooding on roads and in low-lying neighborhoods.

Warning Spans Wide Stretch of Southeast Texas

The Flash Flood Warning covers a broad swath of the region, including Liberty, Mont Belvieu, Anahuac, Winnie, and Stowell, with additional rain bands visible near Sour Lake and Dayton to the north. Communities along Highway 90 and Interstate 10 should be especially alert for ponding water on roadways.

Turn Around Don’t Drown Remains Critical Advice

Forecasters are reiterating the standard flash flood safety message, urging drivers to never attempt to cross a flooded roadway. Water depth can be difficult to judge, and roadways can wash out or become impassable quickly during periods of heavy rainfall like this event.

Storm System Continues Moving Through Region

The radar trends show additional rain bands trailing behind the main core, suggesting rainfall could continue impacting the warned counties through the late morning hours. Residents are encouraged to monitor local alerts and avoid unnecessary travel until the warning expires at 9:45 a.m.
